TEC-530 Ethics, Culture, and Equity with Technology

As a technology coach, it is important to create professional development opportunities that result in changes to teacher best practices and student learning outcomes. Surveying the student, teacher and school needs allows the technology coach to engage in inquiry of a specific topic, learn more about the topic, design the process for which to gather and analyze data, implement the action, and then reflect and draw conclusions. 

Allocate at least 3 hours in the field to support this field experience. 

Part 1: Survey Creation

Seeking assistance from an administrator or a certified teacher experienced in implementing technology with students to determine the focus and appropriateness of your questions, develop a question digital survey on the ethical and safe use of digital tools in the school. Collect data from a minimum of 10 participants using a digital survey tool. This survey will help you identify the technology needs of faculty and staff and ultimately design a professional development session based off the identified needs.

Your survey questions should address, but not be limited to, the following topics: 

• Ethical and safe digital communication by all
• Digital citizenship
• Cyberbullying
• Social and cultural implications of technology use
• Digital health and wellness for students
