In this Assignment, you will import the same Excel file that you used in Module 2 into SPSS and perform three data transformations. To complete the Assignment, follow the steps outlined below:

Download the Data Transformation Worksheet and follow the indicated steps to perform data transformations on the provided data set.
Split the file.
Select cases (50% random).
Recode the variable indicated in the worksheet.
Take a screen shot of the Data View.
Copy and paste the screenshot to your worksheet.
Submit the worksheet to the Module 3 Assignment submission link.

Before beginning statistical analysis in SPSS, it is important to ensure that your data are clean and appropriate for the statistical test you have in mind. You already learned about cleaning data errors in the previous assignments. In this assignment, you will learn about various ways to transform your data.

Data transformation is used for many reasons: to reduce the data set to a specific subpopulation, to create a new variable format (e.g., convert from continuous to categorical), and to correct data that are not normally distributed (something you will learn more about in the next class, PUBH 6330 Fundamentals of Biostatistics).
