The Great War

For this discussion, we are going to be conducting an in-depth discussion of the impacts of WWI, specifically the impacts on those living in Great Britain (though primarily in England itself). We are using England as our window into the war because of the tremendous impact that this war had on that nation and its people and because we happen to have a great deal of firsthand evidence readily available for this time period and region.

For your initial prompt this week, please consult the 6 document excerpts in the attached pdf. Then explain what you think are the most significant or noteworthy impacts of the war in England and/or on English citizens.  Initial posts must explicitly quote and discuss a specific passage from 2 different primary source documents in the following file, WWI Impacts in Britain Documents and must also draw upon the course materials pertaining to WWI from our other course materials (3 sources total). There are no points awarded for the use of outside sources; use of lower-tier sources will result in point deductions. Please indicate the sources used at the point of use.
