The purpose of this assignment is to raise awareness of issues in nursing practice related to improving labor conditions and patient safety.

You are working as a nurse in a health care facility that is about to strike due to the unsafe patient-to-nurse ratio. The board plans to hire nurses to cover shifts during the staffing crisis.

You have been asked to design a deliverable that will be presented to the community to increase awareness of the inadequate patient-to-nurse ratio, as well as develop solutions for patient safety.

Choose one of the following deliverables to complete this assignment:

A 6-8-slide digital presentation, including presenter’s notes with documentation of resources and a title slide

Using the deliverable of your choice, be sure to address the following:

• Summary of the issue

One or two real-world examples from relevant literature that highlight a specific situation in which an unsafe patient-to-nurse ratio resulted in a poor patient outcome.

Solutions for improving the unsafe ratios. For example: budgets, current nursing shortages, or patient satisfaction.
