When you find the “themes” in your evidence, you will use those to guide the flow and main topics of your literature synthesis (assessment 3). You want to find the main commonalities aka “themes” of your articles/evidence. What do they all have in common? What do they agree on? The themes you find should support your PICOT question.
When you write a literature synthesis, you do NOT discuss each article individually. Example: You do not want the synthesis to say: Article 1 says ____. Article 2 says _____. Article 3 says ____. You want to create one cohesive piece of information and collectively discuss the articles according to your themes.
ALL information in the literature review and synthesis should be OBJECTIVE and evidence based. DO NOT incorporate any opinions/ feelings/experiences/ etc. You do not want to have any bias in the synthesis portion as it should be all evidence based. Objective information includes data/statistics/evidence etc.
Always refer to yourself in the third person. Do not use I, me, my, in professional papers.
