The ER nurse is taking care of a 2 year old child with a cough. The parents state that the child seems to be happy, playful, but coughing a lot at night. They also report URI like symptoms over the last 2-3 days. The child has a sat of 97% and is tachycardic at a rate of 130. The ER nurse begins assessing the child and notices a barky-cough with subtle inspiratory stridor. The nurse prepares for the following: Group of answer choices Intramuscular steroids, multiple nebulizers, IV access and IV fluids. Emergency intubation. Oral steroids, single albuterol treatment and discharge. Warm air mist, nebulizers, steroids, airbone isolation, antibiotics and admission.
