Get it written →As we have discussed, the public generally holds nurses in high regard. How does that change when someone “falls off the pedestal”? An article in our local paper discusses a neonatal nurse in London who was found guilty of killing 7 babies & trying to kill 6 others (Pylas & Melley, 2023). She used various ways: injecting air into bloodstreams, putting air or milk in NG tubes, adding insulin to IV feedings, & interfering with breathing tubes. This is a horrible crime. And we do hear about these cases from time to time. What are your thoughts about this? Does it affect the public’s perception of nurses in general or just that one? How does that impact trust in healthcare workers generally & nurses specifically? Reference: Pylas, P. & Melley, B. (2023, August 19).
