Imperial expansion is an epic theme that has made lasting impressions on the world. In brief, Wimmer and Min (2006) discuss imperial expansion in warfare as an issued ultimatum to allow or resist the action forged from the prerequisite of adequate physical capability and the ability to leverage it. An example of this idea is in the American Revolutionary War, and more specifically, the Battle of Bunker, as colonists were becoming less and less pacified by Great Britain and ultimately began their resistance and quest to drive out the overarching power. This was motivated by the commonly noted high taxes and infringement of colonial rights but also the less discussed elements of a motivated drive for counter-imperialism beyond simple self-governance. Still, the battle represents an imperialistic power seeking to subdue an internal uprising. At the same time, it signified the initiation of the discontented subjects working to free themselves from the empire and begin their own imperialistic and subsequent continental-focused agenda.
