Part 1: Instructional Plan

Create a 350-500 word instructional plan for Tung to be shared with a paraprofessional and other staff supporting him academically, emotionally, and socially. Include the following in your plan:

Description of Tung’s academic characteristics (i.e., background knowledge, educational history, and current performance data) that would support the planning of individualized instructional and assessment practices in the general education classroom.

Description of 2-3 effective instructional practices based on Tung’s personal characteristics (interests, motivation, strengths, and needs) and of his family (language use, literacy practices, circumstances).

At least 2-3 recommendations for building a partnership with Tung’s family in support of his learning.

Part 2: Reflection of Personal Bias

Additionally, in 250-500 words reflect on the following:

How your identity, role, cultural understandings, personal biases, and conscious knowledge of U.S. culture affected your interpretation of Tung’s educational strengths and needs. Discuss how you will ensure you continue to reflect on your personal biases and cultural understanding in your future professional practice.

Provide a general explanation of how academic, personal, familial, cultural, and social contexts affect ELL learning and motivation. Include how your understanding of these contexts can reduce personal bias.
