Student is to research the Internet to obtain financial information regarding the business or franchise similar to the one you selected in Assignment No. 1—

You may choose a company similar to the one you discussed in Assignment No. 1 from the list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, which typically is found in Fortune magazine.  Financial information may be found on the company’s website.

The financial research should consist of locating and being able to read the company’s

• income statement
• balance, sheet
• current stock quote
• financial ratios, i.e. calculate the company’s current assets ratio and debt ratio–explain what the results mean to the company
• financial articles pertaining to the business that may affect its financial status

Once the information is gathered, you are to assess its financial performance. 

Compose a one-page composition identifying the details above and where the company stands financially in this economy.

In your writing, be sure to maintain

• professional business writing tone, identify the business as a unit (use the pronoun “it”) or merely state the name.
• subject/verb agreement
• pronoun antecedent agreement

The composition should contain:

1. Introduction–identify why you chose the business/company and where it stands (in terms of competition, market share, financially, etc.) at the present time.

2. Middle–identify the present stock quote and the trend of the stock for year, examine the key components of the balance sheet and income statement; calculate current and debt ratios and interpret what these figures mean.

3. Conclusion–based on your findings, where is the company heading–would you invest in the company or would you be interested in being part of the company.
