What is chromium
Chromium is a source code that was developed by google that creates the source code that chrome uses. It is free and open- source, that can be amassed into a web browser. New versions of chromium are released on a daily basis regardless of them being unstable unlike other web browsers. It also is a web browser that does not have regular and automated updates. Users of chromium have to download these updates manually in order to update the software to the newer version. The chromium code has been used by so many other browsers such as Microsoft edge and opera (Gregg,2019).
How is chromium distributed
Chromium is an open-source that does not collect and send information to google unlike all the other types of browsers. For one to get the software on their computer, they must visit the official download page. The page recognizes the operating system of the computer and provide the user with the appropriate chromium version. Chromium has been used by hackers due to its inadequate security measures which makes it possible for the attackers to hide malware and unwanted programs that infect the computer systems of the users upon installation of the software.
How does it affect a user’s system?
Using the chromium software provides the user’s systems with a number of advantages and disadvantages. Some of the advantages include maintenance of the user’s privacy because this software does to send information to google. Some of the security issues that may arise from using chromium include low security standards and lack of automated updates. Users have to manually download updates for the system to update to the newest version. Dealing with these issues will make the software better for use than all other browsers (Gregg,2019).

Chromium is not just the name of a single web browser. It denotes Google’s open-source project that generates the source code for many other browsers, such as Chrome, Opera, and Microsoft Edge. But unlike these polished browsers, Chromium is substantially less stable (Keizer, 2019). The Chromium browser is far buggier and crashes much more often than even the rawest version of Chrome.
Chromium was first distributed on Windows. Then, with the help of third-party software developers, Chromium made its way to Linux and Mac platforms. In addition, Chromium has been used by hackers due to its inadequate security measures. The greatest security risk associated with Chromium is its lack of automatic updates (Keizer, 2019). When Google engineers release a security patch, Chromium does not receive it unless the user manually downloads a newer version of the browser.
Have a good evening everyone. Your peer, Kevin Giles
