Course Description
This graduate course offers a comprehensive examination of environmental factors influencing the health and safety of communities in the 21st century, from local neighborhoods to global scales. Students analyze the associations and interrelationships among chemical, physical, and biological hazards and their impacts on human health. Core topics include air, water, food, waste management, radiation, noise, pests, population growth, injury prevention, physical hazards, and climate change.Emphasis is placed on comparing local and global environmental health problems, evaluating evidence-based solutions, addressing health equity and environmental justice, and exploring innovative approaches to complex challenges.
