Initiate follow-up contacts with group members
Introduction
Your participants are the heart of your program. They are the ones who took on the challenge of improving their ability to influence others, and they’ve inspired many people to take action in their lives. It’s important that you follow-up with them after training ends so that they know how much it meant to them—and what they can do next!
A few days after the group has finished, phone each person.
-
A few days after the group has finished, phone each person to check in. Ask about their experience and what they learned from it.
-
Ask if there are any questions they would like answered before you call them back at a later date. This way, you can tailor your follow-up call to address those issues directly rather than simply asking the same questions over again in an email or text message.
-
If someone expresses interest in being involved in future research projects—especially if they were part of your study as well—ask them how best to reach out with information on upcoming studies or events related to your research field(s). Your goal here is not only to keep these individuals informed but also respect their time by offering them relevant resources that might help improve their lives now and into the future!
Ask participants to respond to a brief online survey.
To collect feedback from group members, you can use a short online survey that asks respondents to provide their opinion on a single question. This type of survey is commonly used in market research and other studies where it’s important to gather broad data about consumers’ preferences and experiences with products or services.
Surveys can be completed at any time during the follow-up process; however, asking one right away will help keep your emails focused on specific topics so they’re easy for readers’ eyes to scan through quickly. The best way to ensure that responses get collected as quickly as possible is by including an “unsubscribe” link at the end of each email: users who don’t want their information used should simply click this link instead of clicking “reply” when they receive an email like this one asking them about their thoughts on our recent event!
Send a letter or postcard.
-
Send a short letter or postcard to each member of your group.
-
Include a picture of yourself or your staff, if you have one.
-
Include the date and time of your next networking event in the body of the message so that they can plan accordingly.
Include a stamped envelope with your contact information.
-
Include a stamped envelope with your contact information.
-
Don’t include a return envelope or reply card.
-
Don’t include a business card—you’ll want to keep that for introducing yourself at the next meeting of the group, but not for mailing out any follow-up materials (which is what this section is about). If you plan on handing out postcards, don’t use them here either—they’re just too generic and impersonal in terms of what we’re trying to do here: send out more information about ourselves and our organization!
Your participants will appreciate being asked for their opinion about the program.
You should ask your participants for their opinion about the program. This can be done in a number of ways, such as:
-
Asking participants what they think of the program.
-
Asking them how they would improve it if they could do so.
-
Getting feedback on the following aspects:
-
Would you like to receive more information about this topic?
-
What else would you like us to include in our next program?
Conclusion
If you’re worried about contacting the group members, don’t be. This is a great way to get their opinion on what worked well and what could have been improved. If you send a letter or postcard, make sure it is personal and not promotional in nature.
