You will now be introduced to a critical interpretation and demonstration of Pollock’s painting technique as “action painting.” Identify and describe some of the important ideas raised in this video about the how “action painting” is defined, and why it was considered so important and potentially influential. 3. Open and watch an art historical interpretation of Jackson Pollock’s Autumn Rhythm (1950):
Carefully listen to two art historians discuss and analyze Pollock’s artwork in important historical context. Identify and describe FOUR ways that they discuss how abstract expressionism was understood as relevant and much needed as a new kind of art form in the immediate aftermath of WWII. Carefully cite the minute mark in brackets of your observations.
