To expedite processing of the awards, facilities are to submit a grant application as follows. Grantees shall upload a brief description of how the funds will be used and a preliminary budget based on the description to (https://props.health.maryland.gov/#/landing) not later than October 1, 2022. The application process will be open through October 1, 2022, through Props, a web-based portal, which can be accessed at the following site: https://props.health.maryland.gov/#/landing. Facilities will be provided a unique login and password to the portal; those credentials will come from the following email address: [email protected]. Please note that this email does not receive responses and is used to send welcome on-boarding emails only. There will be numerous on-boarding sessions offered to ensure all facilities are properly on-boarded to the portal. Please note the portal is the only way to submit the application for funding. Mailed or emailed applications will not be accepted. Grantees are required to submit a final report on spent funds by July 1, 2023.
Source and Availability
Funds have been allocated from the State’s General Fund and will be available for use beginning July 1, 2022 (Fiscal Year 2023) and will be available for use through June 30, 2023.
Uses of Funds
Assisted living facilities can use these funds for COVID-19 pandemic related response. The following are suggested, but not limited to, uses for the funding:
1. Stabilize and increase staff at the Grantee’s facility(s), including recruitment costs, training costs, salaries and benefits related to backfilling lost positions and newly created positions, retention and bonus pay and HR support.
2. Support increased testing for Grantee’s employees, residents. patients and visitors to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 within the assisted living facility and support the wellbeing of employees, residents, and patients.
3. Activities to increase COVID-19 vaccination (primary and booster series) rates of Grantee’s staff, residents, and patients to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within the assisted living facility and to include education on COVID-19 vaccines, and costs associated with administering COVID-19 vaccines.
4. To provide financial support for the Grantee’s continued response to the COVID-19
pandemic as well as to reimburse providers for prior year expenses related to COVID-19.
