Paper Submission
This paper must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central Time (USA) on Wednesday, November 27.
Take note if you are in another time zone. Specifically, the paper must be submitted in Canvas
using the link for this assignment that is in the “EEX6051 Assignments Module.”
Directions
For this assignment, you are to write a 1 ½ page, single-spaced paper addressing two issues
involving evidence-based practices.
1. Distinguish between a promising practice, an evidence-based review, and an evidence-
based practice. For this paper, evidence-based practice is an umbrella term that includes
evidence-based programs and evidence-based strategies. An evidence-based program
involves a protocol for teachers to follow and materials to use. In some instances,
relevant assessments are included. Notably, the whole program has been researched and
shown to be effective. An evidence-based strategy is a stand-alone instructional
procedure that effectively teaches a targeted skill. Constant time delay is one such
strategy for students with disabilities.
2. Discuss a minimum of three topics regarding evidence-based practices that you believe
are highly relevant to special education teachers and general education teachers who
present instruction to students with individualized education programs (IEPs).
Work through the content in the References section below to acquire the necessary knowledge to
write this paper.
In addition to the directions you are currently reading, refer to the Microsoft Word template you
must use to write your paper. I have placed this template in the assignment directions presented
in the aforementioned Canvas modules. The template contains all of the proper formatting,
which is as follows:
1. Your name, the paper’s title, and page number are to be listed in the header.
2. Use 1” top, bottom, left, and right margins.
3. Use the following font: 12-point Times New Roman. Use plain text for the content in the
body of the paper and bold text for the headings.
4. Single space throughout the entire body of the document, and indent the first line of each
paragraph.
5. Place the following two headings flush left and in bold text: (a) Promising Practices, an
Evidence-Based Review, and Evidence-Based Practices; and (b) Three Topics Relevant
to Special/General Education Teachers and Evidence-Based Practices.
6. Write in complete sentences throughout the paper.
You will note that I put example text in the template. To efficiently use the template, replace my
example text with your text. Begin by putting your name in place of the words “Your Name” in
the header, and then replace all of the example text I put under the two headings.
Grading Criteria
The assignment is worth 50 points. I will evaluate the paper you submit in Canvas based on
proper grammar (i.e., spelling, punctuation, sentence structure), content (i.e., properly addressing
the required content in each part of the paper), and formatting. A copy of the grading criteria is
available in the directions for this assignment, which are presented in the aforementioned Canvas
modules.
Finally, ensure you do not exceed the 1 ½ page limit. I will not consider anything you write
beyond 1 ½ pages and will deduct points for not properly formatting the paper.
Contact me with any questions you have about the assignment.
