Get it written →Tableau is a great tool for data visualization, but there are cases when a different tool should be used. This week we will practice data visualization with Python. The core benefits of using coding in data visualization is a higher flexibility of what you can do with the data prior to visualizations. Python also allows saving visualization to files with one line of the code.
The case is the San Francisco bike sharing system. Bike sharing system operates using stations with a limited number of docks. The goal of the system operator is to minimize cases with denial of service (it happens when either there are no bikes available, but a customer wants to get one, or when no docks available and a customer wants to drop one off). To prevent this from happening, a bike rebalancing team picks up bikes in the stations with a high number of bikes and move them to the stations with a low number of bikes.
The goal is to help the bike rebalancing team to see the “health” of the stations in visual form.
Directions
You will be asked to write a Python code that would:
Load data from a public API: https://gbfs.baywheels.com/gbfs/en/station_status.jsonLinks to an external site. Links to an external site.
Display two lists of top 20 stations that require immediate attention (one for stations with too few bikes and one for stations with too many bikes.
- For each station, the load of the station should be displayed in a visual form (not numbers).
Create another chart that would allow seeing overall ‘health of the system’ by displaying each station. Choose the appropriate chart type and decide on the variable that would be displayed.
All charts should be automatically saved to a .png files.
