After discussing this with my preceptor, we concluded that leadership and economic models can be used to optimize evidence-based practice and improve patient outcomes. Leaders in healthcare organizations can optimize evidence-based practice and improve patient outcomes by promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement and establishing a clear goal that corresponds with patient outcomes, including providing necessary support and resources. Also, leaders promote collaboration between healthcare professionals to ensure the successful integration of evidence-based practice (Kitson et al., 2021).
The economic model helps leaders effectively allocate resources to support the successful implementation of evidence-based practice. Effective leadership requires assessing the cost and benefits of implementing evidence-based practice interventions and setting priorities based on probable impact on patient outcomes (Kitson et al., 2021). Using the economic cost-benefit analysis model, leaders can make informed decisions concerning resource allocation to maximize the value of healthcare provided to patients. Economic incentives influence healthcare providers’ decision-making and behavior; hence, leaders can use reimbursement structures to encourage adopting and implementing evidence-based practice by tying payment to performance metrics based on patient outcomes. Bundle payments, pay-for-performance, and shared savings arrangements inspire providers to deliver high-quality care based on evidence-based practice while controlling costs (Ramzi et al., 2022).
By integrating economic models and leadership principles, healthcare organizations can promote the implementation of evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes. Effective leadership enables allocating resources, aligning incentives with the desired outcomes, and implementing a system for constant evaluation and improvement. Through this kind of holistic procedure, a healthcare organization can deliver high-quality, evidence-based practice that maximizes value for patients and healthcare systems similarly(Kitson et al., 2021)
