Memory.

This weeks lecture was on memory.  I want you to try out one of the memory strategies mentioned in my lecture and then report back to the class as to how it went. As a reminder the three strategies mentioned in the lecture were: chunking, using mnemonic and the spacing effect.

Peer 1: After trying out the spacing effect for memorization, I found it to be quite effective.  By spacing out my study sessions over time, I noticed that I retained the information better when compared to cramming all at once.  Breaking the material into smaller chunks and revisiting them periodically helped reinforce my memory and improve long-term retention.  Overall, the spacing effect proved to be a valuable memory strategy for me.

Peer 2: I tried out the spacing effect to memorize the first 12 numbers in pi. It worked for me, by the 8th number it became easier to finish the rest. Before trying it, I had a feeling it would work because I use a similar tactic when studying for an important exam. 

Peer 3: I often use chunking and mnemonics to help me remember information more effectively, especially during exams. For this week’s DQ I used mnemonic specifically acronyms to help me remember the 7 dimensions of ABA- “GET A CAB”, which translates to Generality, Effective, Technological, Analytical, Conceptualization, Applied, Behavioral. I find the strategy really helps with memory retention.
