Hello class:
Personality traits are the relatively enduring patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that reflect the tendency to respond in certain ways under certain circumstances (Roberts 2009 p 140). In my reading, human behavior and personality is most likely the result of a complex interplay between genetics and environment rather than simply either “nature only” or “nurture only. You are taught to behave a certain way growing up. However, influence can play a major part in how one’s personality can take affect overall.
People often show expressions through how they look whether it is dissatisfaction or just approval by ones actions. Also, of how we interact with others in different settings. However, the attribution of personality on faces includes two independent dimensions of trust-worthiness and dominance (Jaeger et al., 2018; Oosterhof & Todorov, 2008).
I think both genetic and culture affect our personalities. We grow up around a certain group of individuals and learn from them. We adapt to certain behaviors and we learn from our peers on how to respond to different scenarios. We have the humanistic approach as having free will and happiness as well and the social-cognitive perspectives in viewing ones behavior as well as environment.

Genetics can influence personality based on the hypothesis that the Warrior Gene Human is debated by genealogists and said by some to be a gene that is linked to aggressive behavior. Those who take risks and respond to the animal brain fight. They react before thinking. The monoamine oxidases (MAOs) and the genes coding for them mediate aggression (Mentis, A. A et al. (2021). So, some genes are said to play a part in personality. It is complicated because it is not just one gene that can determine personality but the collection of different factors that predict personality. Environment and genetics can give an insight into how a person will react to different situations. Nurture vs Nature.
Social cognitive and behavioral theory shows how personality is formed and states people’s personality is influenced by their environment. This social cognitive theory is part of the cultural factor that influences personality. The theory is an extension of social learning that includes the effects of cognitive processes — such as conceptions, judgment, and motivation — on an individual’s behavior and on the environment that influences them (McLeod,2004). Culture can play a larger part in how our personality is influenced. According to eSoft Skills Online Training Solutions, “Culture plays a significant role in shaping an individual’s personality. It acts as a determinant of personality, with cultural values, beliefs, and practices influencing how individuals perceive themselves and their self-concept within their cultural context. Different cultures prioritize specific personality traits or behaviors, resulting in cross-cultural variations in personality.
