Identify a suitable trial by going to clinicaltrials.gov. Focus your search with the key word “cancer” as shown in the picture below. At the next search page, as shown in the pictures, select filters for “completed” trials, “interventional” (because you want to study how a drug intervened), and “with results”. Finally select “apply filters” to get a results page. 2. On the results page, scroll until you select a trial that (1) is of interest to you, and (2) will fulfill the goal of evaluating of a drug in treatment of cancer. You will look at both the “Study Details” and “Researcher View” tabs to obtain the required information.: From the “Study Details” tab, address the following points in your report: 1. Official Title, 2. Clinical Trials ID number, 3. Sponsor, 4. Drugs studied, 5. Mechanism of drug action, and 6. Location of trial. Ø Give the mechanism of drug action for each drug studied. If this information is not given in the clinicaltrials.gov web site, it can be obtained from other resources of which students are aware. Ø If there is more than one location, just list the first location cited in your report. From the “Research View” tab, address the following points in your report: 7. Phase of trial (usually 1, 2 or 3), 8. Study Recruitment Start Date, 9. Study Recruitment Completion Date, 10. Sex/Gender (male, female, both?), 11. Age range, and 12. Outcome measure. Ø Simplify the outcome measure to 1-2 sentences that capture the general scope. 4. Your submission will be a document with header which includes name, course number, assignment name, and date, followed by addressing the 12 points requested above.
