This is part one of your Policy Brief assignment. Review the Policy Brief Instructions for an overview of the goals of the entire assignment.
Instructions
• Federal: Based on your home address, go to https://www.congress.gov/Links to an external site. to identify your two federal Senators and one representative.
• State: Go to your state legislature website to find your state-level representatives. Each state is different in how to find these. In New Jersey, go to https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/district-mapLinks to an external site. and type in your address to find your district and then go to https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/legislative-rosterLinks to an external site. to find your state Senator (1) and State Assemblypersons (2).
• Look up their background information for your federal and state legislators to get a sense of their position on different issues, including whether they have indicated support for any bills related to interpersonal violence
• In a 1-page document (not including the required APA title and reference page), submit:
1. the names and positions of your two federal Senators and one Federal Representative, and
2. the names and positions of your state Assemblypersons and state Senators.
3. Pick one federal or state level legislator and write a few lines about the types of issues and bills they have supported.
