Discussion: Systems Perspective and Social Change
Zastrow and Kirst-Ashman (2016) stated, “Clients are affected by and in constant dynamic interactions with other systems, including families, groups, organizations, and communities” (p. 35-36). As a social worker, when you address the needs of an individual client, you also take into account the systems with which the client interacts. Obtaining information about these systems helps you better assess your client’s situation. These systems may provide support to the client, or they may contribute to the client’s presenting problem.

Systems Perspective and Social Change
Introduction
Social change is the result of change that we want to see in our world. It is a process that involves everyone—from grassroots movements and large-scale campaigns, to small groups working together to make their communities better places. Press Tab to write more…
Social Change
Social change is a process of transformation from one social, economic, and/or political system to another. Social change can be driven by individuals, groups, or institutions. It may be positive or negative in nature depending on who is affected and how they react to the new situation.
The most common type of social change relates to cultural norms that have been passed down through generations and which form an aspect of society’s identity (e.g., gender roles). Other types include legal decisions like marriage equality laws; technological advances such as cell phones; economic policies such as minimum wage increases; political movements such as feminism; religious beliefs about homosexuality or reproductive rights etc., all contribute toward driving changes within our societies over time
Systems Perspective
The systems perspective is a way of looking at the world, and it helps us to see how things are interconnected. It helps us to understand that there are many different aspects of our lives that are linked together, even though they may look different or be different sizes or shapes.
The systems perspective helps us recognize these connections and shows us how we can use them to make better decisions about what we do in our daily lives.
Goal of Social Change
The goal of social change is to improve the quality of life for all people, regardless of their race, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation. Social change also aims to create a better future for everyone on this planet. In order to achieve these goals, it’s important that we work together as a global community and find ways to make our world more inclusive and fair for everyone who lives here.
Four Steps to Create Change
-
Identify the problem
-
What is the cause of the problem?
-
What is the solution to this problem?
-
How can we implement this solution
How to be a part of the change
As a part of the solution, you should be actively involved in your community and make an effort to understand it. This will help you see how things work, what’s going on outside of your own sphere of influence, and how to make change happen.
Another way to be a part of the change is by participating in social movements that are trying to address issues within society.
A change begins from within.
The change begins within you. It’s a process, not an event. You’re the only one who can make this journey; no one else can do it for you or even help you along your way. The change is internal, not external—and it’s much more powerful than any external force could ever be!
No matter what happens in life or how hard we try, there will always be challenges that stand between us and our dreams: financial difficulties; health issues; family demands; work problems…the list goes on forever! But if we choose to look at these things as stepping stones on our path toward success instead of obstacles in our way (which they often become), then eventually everything will fall into place again and lead us back home where we belong: living happily ever after with those we love most dearly–including ourselves!
Conclusion
In order to create a positive change in society, we must first understand what drives people. If we can recognize the underlying issues and motivations, then we can start to employ strategies that will bring about effective change. The key is to stop thinking of yourself as an individual and instead think of yourself as part of a larger system.
