For the Information Technology (IT) professionals, the terms should not be used interchangeable. Let’s break them down. By definition, Software is the series of instructions that makes the hardware usable. Software has two major subsystems, namely “System Software” and “Application Software.” “System Software” is a subsystem of the “Software” that controls the internal performance of the computer systems. Also, the “Application Software” is a subsystem of the “Software” that serves as the productivity software designed to meet specific end-users’ need. It handles all the communications necessary within the system and creates a well-defined environment for the application.
