Justice Anthony Kennedy from the U.S. Supreme Court has worked with some of the country’s top attorneys and forensic mental expert witnesses to stage a mock insanity trial of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Though the entire filmed mock trial (including the jury deliberations) is fascinating, we’re just required to view three clips for this class: Justice Kennedy’s opening instructions to the jury that introduces the case, and then the direct examination of the Prosecution’s Expert Witness, and the direct examination of the Defense’s Expert Witness.
Watch these three clips from ‘The Insanity Trial of Hamlet’ and post your thoughts and reactions to the clips. You should focus on the relevance of the clips to forensic psychology – not so much about critiques of the videos, etc. What you post is up to you.
