“The Insanity Trial of Hamlet”
Justice Anthony Kennedy from the U.S. Supreme Court has worked with some of the country’s top attorneys and forensic mental expert witnesses to stage a mock insanity trial of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Though the entire filmed mock trial (including the jury deliberations) is fascinating, we’re just required to view three clips for this class: Justice Kennedy’s opening instructions to the jury that introduces the case, and then the direct examination of the Prosecution’s Expert Witness, and the direct examination of the Defense’s Expert Witness.
