I am majoring in social work and right now Iam studying law and the legal system. The question I have is, what are the Types and sources of law?
I have research and found several types of laws which includes the Constitution, Statures, regulations, executive orders, court-made law, and common law. The Constitution of the United States (federal constitution) is the supreme law of the land, and it prevails over all other laws. It sets the limit of governmental authority and establish the basic rights that cannot be infringed by the government. Any law determined by the court to be in conflict with the Constitution (federal, state, or local) law is invalid and without legal force. Unless the court declares it unconstitutional, such a law remains freely disregarded. State constitution in relationship with other forms of law in their State is similar to the Congress relationship to all other forms of law. I am confused on the sources of laws. Can someone explain the laws and sources to me for a better understanding?
