Some believe government should intervene to help communities address obesity, but believe only education is appropriate, while taxation or regulation is not. Others see a benefit in utilizing law as a mechanism to regulate behavior and shift social norms in a desired direction. Public health professionals often look to both law and ethics for guidance in addressing different aspects of these questions.
