Assignment Tasks:
Provide the correct authorities as provided by legislation to ensure a lawful event from arrest to release considerations in the following situation. In addition, please list the steps you would take to ensure this is a success. This entails:
Listing your actions and rationale that abide by the Criminal Code and Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Actions you would take from arriving on the scene and deciding to detain and/or arrest
Search and seizure of evidence considerations.
Release considerations for each suspect
One night you are on patrol as a front-line police officer when you observe a citizen that is chasing two persons. The citizen shouts to you the two persons, stole his wallet and iPad. You give chase and catch one, and later you find the citizen had caught the second person. Initial information is they are two brothers aged 19 and 15, and upon searching them you find the complainant’s watch and wallet. The complainant stated the two males stole his wallet and iPad when he set them down on a counter to pay for a coffee.
Further investigation reveals the 19-year-old is living at a local shelter having been kicked out of the house. The 15-year-old lives at home with his parents.
