I found your response and the article you provided for your post very interesting. Many people do not realize that firefighters and police officers are doing more than just protecting us, they are putting themselves in harm’s way whether that be danger or putting their health at risk. My brother is a sheriff and has had covid three times from his job as he is around many people and moving to different areas. Jails have closed quarters and people are not able to social distance. While there is no airflow in the facility, this increases the chances of catching the virus. Sanitary products are also not provided to protect cell mates or the officers. If more was provided to them including sanitary supplies, covid-19 would have been more under control for the firefighters and officers. This could have helped surfaces be constantly wiped off and be sanitized to prevent the spread. I do wish this article talked more about why firefighters and officers had a higher death rate. The stakeholders are the first responders as they are faced with the chances of contracting covid and have higher death rates.
