Argument: In the last two years, the Tantalum Capacitor Corporation (TCC) has been buying tens of thousands of acres in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mining coltan on this land will cause huge amounts of pollution and human rights violations. Since the DRC is home to endangered animal species and communities suffering from poverty and exploitation, mining will be an absolute disaster. However, there’s still a chance that you can make a difference! If you and consumers like you refuse to buy products made with coltan, the TCC will have to give up its mining plans.
