Introduction

As a psychiatric caseworker in the field of human development, there are potential remedies that can be directed toward the Nevada state government that would address issues concerning psychiatric care. According to Government Information Quarterly, using digital self-service has potentially harmed the quality of care. Indeed, this change in administrative access to patients has meant that individuals who become in patients’ care. It has led to significant issues and was compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is worsened by government administrations, such as the Nevada government, whose policies are allowing for intrusive policies without the appropriate usage of psychiatric professionals. Indeed, as someone who wants to become a caseworker, it presents a problem that would be solved by voters electing officials who will cater to patients and make changes to the system. The only solution is a political one, as it will precipitate policy changes to ensure there are high standards of care for psychiatric patients.

Problem

The problem for caseworkers in the future is one with patients being overlooked by administrative elements of the government . Cases are being managed by an automated process, thereby making government officials into case workers. Indeed, for many government forces, the concern of those in psychiatric care becomes secondary, and case workers are “created” (Madsen  et al. 1). Government officials are creating provisions within Nevada, which  will cater to documenting patients without critical care and high standards. Indeed, it is compounded by a noted “compassion fatigue” for healthcare workers after the COVID-19 pandemic (Nishihara et al 5). However, the government should follow the strictest and highest standards concerning psychiatric care for patients. Indeed, caseworkers should not be created by government officials and systems, becausethese systems can lack the oversight and management necessary to ensure they do not harm those who should have their case managed by a person.

This problem has come about because government officials in Nevada have voted through legislation that approves automatically managing cases through computer processes. It means that voters are being inconvenienced by bad policymaking and should find officials who care about the issue. It means that voters will ultimately be the ones who pay with worse systems and deal with their family or friends receiving worse care. The issue has been overlooked due to mismanagement and allows for cases to be managed through an automated process.

Solution

There is a potential solution to the problem using the democratic system. The next election for local, state, and senate officials should address this problem. Voters should only vote for officials who dedicate themselves to solving this problem as part of this manifesto. The voters  must demand that officials state their position on this problem and support specific candidates. Those candidates who support upholding high standards for casework should be chosen by vote. There need to be laws [A9] that ensure a person is involved in every case. There needs to be proper case management (Madsen et al. 3). This provision can be voted on by the residents of Reno, Tahoe, and other areas of Nevada through adequately vetting candidates. 

There should be questioning of all officials during the election process about maintaining the sanctity and high standards within the psychiatric case worker industry. Indeed, voters can use evidence such as from BMJ Open Quality. They need to argue why officials should take up a new position (Knox et al. 1). Those candidates who fail to state their position or do not care about automated case management should not be supported. Electing candidates who will fix the issue is the only solution to this problem. Simultaneously, there should be a focus on ensuring that fatigue among healthcare workers is addressed. Officials can find ways to provide better support for all caseworkers to help them overcome their fatigue (Nishihara et al. 2).  For example, spending on research for caseworkers would be beneficial and provide financial assistance for Nevada’s public healthcare facilities(Smith and Pattni 1). All of these ideas should be a litmus test for electing candidates.

Justification

The solution would be effective because government officials can enact legislation directly addressing the problem. Indeed, the problem relates to spending, and a low priority for administrations is ensuring high standards for cases (Madsen et al. 1). There has to be a new strategy employed, which can be achieved through voting. Residents and citizens have the power to push for policies they care about, including case worker fatigue and automated processes hurting patients. Indeed, there should be a focus on ensuring human case management is highlighted for candidates as part of their agenda. The governments of Nevada on a local, state, and Senate level can be changed through voting. According to research from The Lincy Institute Policy Brief, a social needs program can be implemented by voters in Nevada to successfully improve the healthcare system statewide (Knox et al. 2). The requirement for Nevada only requires the political will to empower officials to make positive changes. [A12] Indeed, the voters have the power to elect whomever they choose and can do so based on what candidates have the better policy on case workers. 

The voters can choose not to elect candidates who support the current system. The exhaustion of caseworkers in the healthcare system is another issue that can be solved through higher spending to resolve it through new schemes and financial support (Nishihara et al. 1). The voters can choose the candidates who promise to handle this problem with more financial support for caseworkers. Indeed, the voters have the power to choose only a candidate who says they will try and address the issue. While there might be different strategies, the voters can choose who has the best policies. It should allow officials who are not helpful to the cause to be de-selected or lose in elections. This process should mean that anyone not helpful towards the cause loses because of voters.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the psychiatric nurse position as part of human development will experience specific issues in the future. Chief among them is that case management has become administrated by an automated government system. It might mean that care quality worsens, and there are low standards. Simultaneously, healthcare workers and case workers are suffering from fatigue due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The solution is to vote for candidates willing to support case workers and enshrine human case management in law for regions such as Reno and Tahoe. The voters have the power to elect any candidate they choose. There should be a campaign for all candidates to support measures encouraging human case management. Simultaneously, financial support for case workers and schemes for handling and researching fatigue should be a priority. Electing candidates who will enforce superior policy would resolve this problem. It should mean that helpful legislation is enacted across Nevada.
