Watch the videos, “Self Concept, Self Identity, and Social Identity,” “Identity Vs. Role Confusion Min 8:40 to end 10:40 ,” and “James Marcia Identity Development.” Review the slides in the Chapter 12 Power Point to build an understanding of the various parts of our identity. Studies show that young people (adolescents and early adults) who have a knowledge of their family history and an understanding of their family culture and values related to their family history are more understanding of their own identity than young people who do not have this knowledge.
