Strategic Planning and Property Crimes
The law enforcement career is dynamic, and police officers need to anticipate emerging trends to prepare effectively for the future of their units. Currently, strategic planning is already becoming increasingly complex due to the unpredictability of the economy. Due to competitive grant opportunities requiring an infeasible match and limited resources, many law enforcement organizations frequently face a steep uphill battle. Regardless of their available resources, these organizations must continue to provide the same service quality to their respective communities. The majority of property crimes include a variety of crimes associated with the destruction or theft of an individual's property, such as the number of stolen items and the usage of force or arms in theft-related circumstances, as well as the potential or actual occurrence of bodily harm in property destruction offenses such as arson. The City of Albuquerque, The Plano, New Mexico Police Department, The Dalton Police Department, The Manhattan Beach Police Department, and The Texas Police Department are among the police forces with a complete strategic plan to address such concerns.
The Albuquerque Police Department (PD) in New Mexico is prepared to present stakeholders with a complete and carefully considered strategic plan. The amount of time spent by the department to define their aims, values, and what they stand for as a department is indicative of the fact that they are not only expressing their intentions but also having their vision in place; the department seems to have a concrete strategy on how to attain these goals. They stated not only their strategic strategy but also their goals, their action plans, the reason they were doing this, and the success rate they could expect if they were to achieve those goals. Of all the investigated departments, they had a plan that was both the most comprehensive and the easiest to comprehend. According to the statistics provided by the FBI: UCR website, during the year 2018, Albuquerque had 34,619 property crimes reported. This number represents a significant decrease from the previous year's total of 41,350 " (FBI: UCR, 2019). On the other hand, the summary of the Plano, Texas Police Department's strategic plan was likewise written in a very clear and concise manner. Nevertheless, they lacked the visually pleasing presentation that the vast majority of people would find compelling and would captivate and hold the attention of anyone.
In addition, their strategy was significantly more condensed than that of Albuquerque. Nevertheless, the specifics of their actions, timing, and process were more clearly specified in Texas. The state of Texas utilized many graphs. Suppose the purpose of the presentation was to target or inform the community of their plans. In that case, the text's plainness may have diminished the importance of the information, which would have caused stakeholders to become uninterested in the document. The presentation seems a bit random compared to the one given in Albuquerque. They certainly have a wonderful program; unfortunately, how it is presented leaves much to be desired. According to the FBI: UCR website, there were 208 property crimes committed in the city of Plano, Texas, in 2018. The strategic plan for the Dalton Police Department was comparable to the plan developed for the state of Texas; the blueprint was primarily wordy and contained a few graphs to support each aim established for the years to come. Since Dalton is a very small city, the crime rate here is far lower than in other Georgia cities. On the other hand, they set admirable aims centered mostly on the community and try to crack down on crimes or other basic offenses in their area (Dalton Police Department, 2019). According to the findings of the studies, the city of Dalton had only 61 property crimes, which is relatively low compared to the other states, which have a bigger number.
In conclusion, the FBI: UCR website states that Manhattan Beach had only 21 reported property crimes for 2018. (Manhattan Beach Police Department Strategic Plan, 2019). When compared with other strategic plans, the strategic planning carried out by the Manhattan Beach PD came in second place, behind only that carried out by New Mexico. Not only was the concept visually appealing, but it also ensured that someone would remain interested in it. Not only does a stakeholder want to read and see data on the advantages of the reforms or procedures, but they also want to see the individuals affected by these tactics. In the same manner, as the other boroughs, Manhattan strongly emphasized the growth of its workforce, the improvement of its community, and the implementation of new tactics to combat crime. Analysis of the four departments' respective strategic approaches to decreasing property crime and best practices in the field of property crime reduction Every one of the four municipalities distinctively handled cases of property crime. Because New Mexico had the highest number of property crimes in 2018, and even in 2017, of the four states, they suggested the establishment of an auto theft authority that needs approval from the state legislature to be constituted, as well as the implementation of a special task force to solve property crimes, they also called on the community to assist police officers in identifying these lawbreakers. In 2017, New Mexico had the highest number of property crimes out of the four states “(Albuquerque Police Department, 2013). Community service appears to be the most comparable approach to the others and has shown to be the most successful so far for the majority.
People's lack of vigilance is a major contributing factor to the number of property crimes that occur. Residents have been issued a call to action by law officials to remain vigilant and secure their properties and homes to the best of their abilities. On the other hand, it would appear that everyone would concur that using crime prevention technology is the most prudent route to follow. The property crime rate in each city, except for Albuquerque, appears to be under control in the other cities. Albuquerque's records for property crimes have significantly improved even though the city still had a high number of incidents compared to the previous year's numbers.
It is difficult to compare any of the four cities to each other in regards to the number of property crimes that are registered on the website of the UCR since; in the first place, each of the cities has a different population size. For instance, Albuquerque is the most populous of the three cities and has the highest numbers. However, the crime report states that there has been an 11% decrease compared to the prior years, and the figures support this claim. Both Plano and Albuquerque have concluded that they need to concentrate more on the legislative process and make adjustments that are more significant. Manhattan Beach and Dalton have recently shifted their attention to cultivating trust within their communities and providing opportunities for community members to play a more active role in developing their growth strategy. Although some of the solutions are more straightforward to implement than others, the result is that the number of property crimes committed in each city appears to have decreased compared to the previous year.
Everybody deals with the problem of property crime, but law enforcement cannot solve it on their own; they require community support to significantly reduce any crime-related activities. Property crimes are frequent, yet many of them can be avoided. The number of cases will likely rise steadily across all cities with the adoption of adequate strategic strategies by law enforcement authorities.
