ISEM 570 Project Description
Organization: Team of 3 – 5 people depending on size of the class.
Description
Overview – The Story
Your team is part of a larger IT department in a major company. Since your team is skilled in the ITIL Quality processes, you have been asked to create some learning modules that will help non-IT people in your company to understand the parts of IT Quality found in the ITIL framework.
During your investigation and research of this task or project your group has determined that a game environment might be the best way to attain the most participation or engagement in the subject matter (Silic & Lowry, 2020)
While game construction is a valuable tool in learning theory, there is no budget for game authoring software in your company’s budget. Conducting more research your team discovered that PowerPoint® (PredAnalytics, 2020), which is a part of Microsoft Office 365, does have the capability to create simple games to educate others in an interactive fashion. Since PowerPoint® licensing is included with the Microsoft Office® suite, there is no investment in professional software required. Plus, PowerPoint® can accomplish branching and other features, including incorporation of VBA code in a file (González Rodríguez, 2005).
Part 1
STEP 1
First each project group or team will identify ITIL processes from the Service Strategy and Service Design books. The group should have at least one process for each member of the group from each of the two books. This means if your group has five members then the team should select ten processes; three members would mean six processes, etc. The processes for each of the five ITIL books are listed in Figure 3 on page 6. Within each team the process selected must be unique; two team members cannot do the same process.
STEP 2
The team should pick a game format they wish to use. There are many examples of PowerPoint games that can be found in the public domain. For example, look at the website found at URL in the figure.
https://tekhnologic.wordpress.com/collections/
Figure 1 is contains a screen capture from the Tekhnologic website to demonstrate its contents.
There is another website that has a Jeopardy style template found at this URL shown in Figure 2, for your reference. Your team does not have to use a pre-existing game template and is free to create something without using an existing template.
Game Requirements:
1. Title page showing Team members and their responsibilities (sample discussed in class)
2. Start with instructions on how to play and earn points
3. Present the user with navigation controls
4. Adding a point-counter to PowerPoint will require some VBA code.
a. This may be too difficult to accomplish in the time available, therefore it is acceptable to have the player just keep track of his/her score outside of the game (paper).
b. You Tube links for point counter.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGp3HsLKXb4&t=395s
https://slidelizard.com/en/blog/jeopardy-powerpoint-template
5. Each of the ITIL processes should be presented in the game format so the player is exposed to the process.
6. Assume the player was giving lessons on the processes and this is a way for them to test their learning.
7. Your team’s game should NOT be just a copy of a template with information inserted. Use the template to build a “better” game and add at least two new features from the original template.
At this point your team has several ITIL processes and a game template selected. In this step, your team needs to collect some data or research. For each ITIL process your team selected, to present in your game find:
1. Objectives of the ITIL Process
The main objective of change management process is to management the incidents by decreasing and comply with regulatory standards. Change management methodology’s goal is to ensure the handling of any modifications are being executed in the IT infrastructure successfully. The main goal from organization point of view is to reduce and mitigate the risks, providing contexts and maintain right transparency which are aligned with organization goals.
· Responding to the changing business requirements.
· Reducing the risk of execution of changes.
· Ensure all changes are being approved at the appropriate level with the business and IT.
· Execute changes successfully and changes in times which can meet business needs.
· Utilize the standard processes to document all the changes.
The main objectives of the continuous service improvement process include
· Measurement and analysis of service level accomplishments by contrasting with the needs in the service level agreement.
· Making necessary recommendations in all the phases.
· Implementing the activities which will enhance the quality, effectiveness, efficiency, and customer satisfaction level.
· Operating more cost-effective IT services by keeping customer relationships as a primary objective.
· Utilization of quality management methodologies for enhancing the activities.
2. Scope of the ITIL Process
The scope of change management process mainly involves the size of the change, who are affected by the change directly or indirectly. Scope of change management also includes what is the level of change management execution, right data selection, the gap analysis and necessary corrective actions towards the current processes. In the scope of change management in mainly includes level of impact, costs, benefits and risks involved in the proposed changes.
· Capture everything from configured objects, management systems, tools, processes, metrics and solution and architecture from design strategy to continual service.
· Manage all the modifications in a controlled manner in both strategic level and operational level by referring the service portfolios.
· The handling process is executed though the help of planning and transition support processes.
The scope of continuous service improvement process involves
· Continuous necessary actions of the IT services to the current and future needs of the business.
· Continuous necessary actions of the IT service portfolio.
· The maturity of the IT processes which would allow the current services.
3. Value to the business of the ITIL Process.
3. Value to the business of the Change Management Process and Continuous Service Improvement Process.
In terms of bringing value to the business through change management process, it ensures that new enhancements would make business more organized, structured and well managed. The businesses can be successful when these are three valuable qualities are being added i.e. organizing, structuring and better management. Better management mainly involves how the resources are engaged in the activities of the business and how the deliverables are added to the business in terms of change execution which will help in bringing the value to the business. In order to get more value to the business through change management, the one who designs and develops the change management needs to provide a direction, how the change needs to execute so that resources will be engaged as per new changes and get delivered to make sure those developed changes are being implemented rightly so that business will be valued.
In terms of bring value to the business of the Continuous Service Improvement Process.
· Set directions for activities in order to meet the goals.
· Validate the previous old business decisions.
· Get facts where course of actions are required.
· Identify a point of intervention which includes required changes and right actions.
STEP 4
Each member of the team should incorporate the Objective, Scope, and value into the game template selected. If desired more information can be added to “fill out” the game.
STEP 5
Combine the individual PowerPoint games into a “Master” so all the work done are game modules in a master file. It will become one continuous presentation. (Sample will be discussed in class).
There should be a final slide in the master presentation where everyone on the team places their references. References may require two or more slides to be complete. None of the game links need to “jump” to the references slides.
Submission and Presentation
Live Presentation
Each team will present the collective project work in class as follows:
1. The team presentation will take about 20 minutes.
2. In a separate PowerPoint
a. describe your chosen “game” template.
b. Show slides on how the game operates.
c. Each person should describe their “game module”
d. Discuss any difficulties you had in creating this work and how they were overcome.
3. Be prepared to answer questions from other teams.
Submission
One member of the team submits the PowerPoint game to Canvas
Part 2
STEP 6
At this point your team presented part 1 in class and you are ready to move on to the second part of this project.
In this step you will each pick one process and one function from the remaining ITIL books of Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Process Improvement. Each member of the team will be working on two items and they should be different from the other team members. For example, if John is working on Change Management and Service Desk then the other team members should choose a different process and function.
STEP 7
As a team you may select a different game template or keep the same one from the one your team used in Part 1.
STEP 8
Each team member should do the research to discover the Objective, Scope, and Value of the selected process and function for their part of the project, part 2.
STEP 9
Just like part 1, each member should build the game with their selected knowledge process and function.
STEP 10
Combine all the games into one “game master”.
Submission and Presentation
Live Presentation
Each team will present the collective project work in class as follows:
4. The team presentation will take about 20 minutes.
5. In a separate PowerPoint
a. describe your chosen “game” template.
b. Show slides on how the game operates.
c. Each person should describe their “game module”
d. Discuss any difficulties you had in creating this work and how they were overcome.
