As a society, I believe we have become very dependent on technology. If you look around you, almost nine out of ten people carry an electronic device. People carry around their phones almost twenty-four hours a day. Parents depend on television or an electronic tablet to keep their kids entertained. When we go on a trip, we must carry our tablets and phones and download movies to keep us entertain on a car or airplane trip. When we go workout, we carry our phones and headphones to listen to music while we exercise. We used to have to go to a bank to deposit a check, we used to have to go to a store and pay for our bills and we used to have to go to a concert venue to purchase our tickets, all of this is done online now.
Technology has made my life a lot faster and better in my opinion. I can almost go anywhere and connect with family and friends through a smartwatch or cell phone. I can order food from most restaurants around town from a mobile application with a click of a button. It has made me go to school a lot easier also. Since I have been going to Houston Community College almost a year and half now, I have been able to take all my classes online. I have the luxury of doing my school work from my computer and sometimes phone from inside the United States and sometimes out of the country when I visit my family in Mexico. The negative side of the technology has been having my personal information accessible to hackers. I have gotten my personal information and even credit cards stolen through online as easy as making a purchase online. Although, technology has made my life so much easier and faster it does not make it safer. Sometimes I still rely on old methods of payments and to conduct school work because of it being safer.

Hi Hemmanuella, I agree with you that as a society we have become way too dependent on technology. I too, see children being very dependent on electronics. The part that I respectfully disagree is that a child kills another due to technology. I believe this either must be an anger management issue or a mental issue. If any one is to blame are the parents and not technology. You make a very good point about social media being unrealistic and making a lot of young minds and some older insecure. We have all seen a model that uses a filter or airbrush who post a picture online that makes us feel like there is something wrong with our bodies. I am sorry to hear you went through depression but I think most of us learn that the beauty features on social media is very unrealistic.
Hello, Hemmanuella. I agree with you that we have gotten far too reliant on technology as a society. I, too, believe that youngsters are overly reliant on devices. I sincerely disagree with the section where a youngster murders another because of technology. This is either a mental or an anger management issue, in my opinion. It is the parents, not technology, who are to fault. You make an excellent point about social media being unrealistic and instilling insecurity in many young and older minds. We've all seen a model upload a photo online with a filter or airbrush that makes us feel as if something is amiss with our body. I'm sorry to hear you've been depressed, but I believe most of us have learned that the beauty characteristics on social media are far from true. We are all beautiful in our own way.

Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating , delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.
Think about an ad on the internet, television, radio or print that you find appealing. Tell us why you like it, who the add is targeting and do you feel it has value.
Feel free to include the ad link so we may view it too.
The Marlboro advertising that I saw as a child in the 1980s have always been one of my all-time favorite ads that is etched in my consciousness. Growing up in Houston, Texas, I recall seeing advertisements all throughout town that promoted smoking as the ideal guy. The advertising were made even more popular by Eric Lawson, a well-known actor at the time who was known as the Marlboro Man. It was valuable to me at the time since I also grew up in the country and believed that smoking was an important part of growing up to be a gorgeous and "manly" man. The advertisement, in my opinion, would appeal to guys of all ages. It demonstrated that you, too, could be as cool, rugged, and "manly" as the Marlboro man if you smoked. "Come to where the flavor is," one of the main slogans said, implying that smoking is where the enjoyment is. Despite the fact that I do not smoke, I must admit that some advertisements have a long-term effect on you. When someone discusses an advertisement, the first thing that comes to mind is the Marlboro Man. We've all become more aware of the dangers of smoking and its link to lung cancer. It demonstrates what a good marketing ad can accomplish and how it can elicit such mixed feelings about a product, regardless of whether you believe in it or not.

Hello, Hayes. This meme with the screaming goat is one of my favorites. Many people use it to describe pitchy singers in popular songs. Super Bowl advertisements are always entertaining and well-executed marketing campaigns. I, too, am a Doritos fan, and I believe this commercial will be remembered. Taking a well-known, viral meme and using it to market your product is a fantastic idea. Doritos are already well-known for their distinct cheesy flavor, but their marketing team is phenomenal. I find it amusing how the goat consumes all of the bags of chips and continues to be sold due to its addiction to Doritos.
After viewing the video answer the following questions.
1. Why do you believe entrepreneur Mark Spates decided to take his idea to Google?
When we think of Google, we think of it as an online search tool that you can use on your computer. Google search is straightforward to use: type in the word(s) you're looking for and push enter; tens of thousands of websites matching your search appear in the results. Mark Spates discusses his desire to enhance technology in the house by making it as simple as flipping on a light switch. This, I assume, is why he took his ideas to Google. He understood Google could take something commonplace and turn it into something remarkable.
2. What did Mark Spates and Google take into considerations about marketing to their users?
Google Home Speaker, Nest Learning Terms, Google Home Hub, and Nest Hello Doorbell are all Google products, according to Mark Spates, who has a history in using data to make decisions and as a product manager for smart speakers at Google. His Google marketing has centered on resolving user issues. It's all about harnessing habitual patterns to make them better, more efficient, or more enjoyable, according to Mark. They take goods that are currently in people's homes and find a way to upgrade them to address what they refer to as "user issues." In what they call "partners," items like refrigerators, washers, and dryers, they discover a way to mix hardware, software, and artificial intelligence to address the user's problem.
3. How does Mark Spates and Google infuse sustainability into their products and why?
Mark Spates and Google include recyclable bins every three to four steps in their products to promote sustainability. It's not only about putting the recyclable bins in the right places; it's also about encouraging staff to recycle. They have parks and greenery all around as part of their background, so people gather behind the idea of leaving a better place, a better planet, on the things they are constructing. This is the cause for their long-term survival. Every product, according to Mark, is designed to be environmentally friendly. The majority of the devices created are supplements rather than replacements. It's not just about recyclability when it comes to sustainability; it's also about liability. The devices have been designed to look like long-lasting furniture.

Because of its commitment to ethical business methods, Chick-fil-A has been able to succeed where others have failed. This fast-food chain adheres to biblical principles of honesty, integrity, and fairness. Despite the fact that I am not a religious person, I feel these values have a role in their ethical behavior. The quality of their customer service is a clear indicator of their innocence. Chick-fil-A is an excellent example of a chain that provides the same service and food regardless of where you go.
Chick-fil-A is yet another example of a socially responsible business. The company is proud of its dedication to caring for people, the community, other people's food, and the environment, and it shows this in everything it does. There are two reasons why I feel the company selected those four pillars. To begin, it sets them apart from other fast-food restaurants.
Secondly, their support for more chicken and less beef consumption is significant in their decision. The company's social and ethical values and practices are aligned with the client's perspective. It's possible that they were specifically chosen for that reason. Chick-fil-A's success has inspired other fast food companies to try and replicate it, but they aren't always successful. As a result, they enjoy hiring people who share their ethical and social beliefs.

Banks use databases to identify profitable and unprofitable customers. Bankers say they lose money on customers who typically keep less than $1,000 in their checking and savings accounts and frequently call or visit the bank. Profitable customers keep several thousand dollars in their accounts and seldom visit a tell or call the bank. To turn unprofitable customers into profitable ones, banks have assessed fees on many of their services, including using a bank teller, although many of the fees are waived for customers who maintain high account balances. Bankers justify the fees by saying they're in business to earn a profit.
Discuss whether banks are justified in treating profitable and unprofitable customers differently. Defend your answer.

In my perspective, there are so many banks out there, and the market for a consumer to find a bank is currently overcrowded with competition. I don't believe it is in a bank's best interests to charge a client fees for not having a balance of less than $1,000 dollars or for using their services. Banks are the ones who profit the most from loans. You have no idea where your next loan will come from. A customer with a tiny balance in their checking and savings account could be your next vehicle or mortgage loan, resulting in a significant increase in revenue. For example, a college student like me spends the majority of his salary on education. Long-term aspirations include earning a degree, finding a better-paying job, and obtaining a loan to start their own business and home. I will most certainly take my business elsewhere if this bank charges me what I believe to be unjustified fees.
Banks, in my opinion, differentiate between profitable and unprofitable customers. Profitable customers have more money in the bank, therefore they typically waive the majority of their costs. As a result, nearly every service provided to customers with less money and who are considered unprofitable is charged a fee by the bank.
Hi Stela. I agree with you that there should be a federal plan in place for banks charging these fees. There fees should be same across the board. I also agree that the target customer are low income ones. Its almost like making the rich, richer by charging the poor. Loans are banks major source of income, so I don’t understand why they have to charge these fees. I think people really need to do their do diligence and pick a bank that does not charge these outrages fees for services that should be free. A good bank cater to its community not only to profitable customers.
Hello, Stela. I agree with you that a federal plan for banks charging these fees should be in place. Their rates should be the same for everyone. I agree that the intended market is low-income people. It's almost as if charging the poor makes the rich richer. Because loans are the banks' primary source of revenue, I'm not sure why they have to charge these fees. I believe that customers should do their homework and choose a bank that does not charge these exorbitant fees for things that should be free. Not only does a smart bank attend to its profitable customers, but it also caters to its community.
