Why are YOU the Right Person to influence health policy?

13614In Chapter 1, Informing Public Policy: An Important Role for Registered Nurses (Short, 2022), the author wrote about the types of power that are exerted to bring about change and block change in the political arena. For this discussion post, after completing the assigned reading, consider the types of power that you have or could have in influencing health policy in your practice, your community, your state, and beyond. Then follow the link to Healthy People 2030. Click on the “Find objectives” link. Then, “Browse Objectives by Topic.” Choose a topic that interests you, and compose a discussion post that addresses the following:

State the Healthy People 2030 goal related to your chosen topic.
Examine the Objective Status of this goal. Describe the progress or lack thereof that has been made in the last 10 years.
Examine the Evidence-Based Resources for your topic. Describe and cite at least one resource that is recommended for this goal.
Describe how you could use the information gleaned from Healthy People 2030 to enact change in your community?
Declare your power, and how it could be used to change the outcomes in your sphere of influence.
