This week we learned about time-series analyses. Let us now practice reading and understanding visualizations that depict change over time. You will find three graphs below that took different approaches to visualizing some change over time. Please analyze all three graphs and respond to the following questions:

1. What variables are presented in each of the graphs (x and y axis)?
2. Which pre-attentive attributes are used and what information do they convey in each of the graphs?
3. How are the values sorted (relevant to the ‘Study abroad’ and ‘MBA’ graphs)?  
4. For the ‘Study Abroad’ graph, roughly how many Chinese students were studying abroad in 2000, 2008 and 2016? By how many percent did the number increase between 2000-2008 and between 2008-2016? Does growth appear to be accelerating?
5. Let’s say you are planning to get an MBA degree, and post-graduation salary is a major deciding factor in your choice of MBA program. Looking at the MBA graph, at which (named) university would you choose to pursue MBA program and which university would you avoid? Which of the (named) universities that yields a large post-graduation salary increase is also among the most accessible to incoming students with lower salaries? Please explain your why you would choose or avoid certain program(s) over others.
