TASK
Create a professional development presentation that includes a plan of useable ideas and experiences for improving staff wellness and wellbeing, to be implemented in an early childhood setting. The professional development presentation should be created using PowerPoint or similar presentation method to be presented with early childhood staff as the intended audience. You will record your voice onto the PowerPoint. This presentation should be a resource that would be useful to provide professional development on staff wellness and wellbeing at an early childhood setting.
The following aspects, all of which should be drawn from the module content and assigned readings, must be included in the presentation:
1. Identify and discuss two issues that could adversely affect the wellness and wellbeing of educators in the early childhood education setting where you work.
2. Discuss the implications for staff if these issues remained unresolved.
3. Create a plan with useable ideas and experiences to improve staff wellness and wellbeing in relation to these two issues that could be implemented in an early childhood setting.
4. Explain how the role of leaders and advocates in the early childhood profession are important in supporting the wellness and wellbeing of early childhood staff.
Instructions for the PowerPoint slides:
• Your Presentation should consist of 9-12 slides and will be accompanied by more detailed notes. The notes should be no longer than 1500 words and the words on the slides are not counted in the word count.
• The presentation should follow the same rules as an essay and include an introduction, body, and conclusion.

• The slides should not have too many words on them. The words on the slides are a summary of what you are saying – a heading, bullet points, a picture, short quote etc. They are a focus or a reminder for you and your audience. Your slide notes will be the bulk of your content.
• You must include references throughout your slide notes. Only include references on your slides if you are using a direct quote.
• Add a voice-over recording of your presentation.
• The general format of the presentation should be as follows:
o Introductory slide (title, aims, your name).
o Body (approximately one to two slides to address each of the required aspects #1-#4).
o Conclusion slide (summarise main points).
o References (include all references using APA 7th ed.).
RATIONALE
This assessment task will assess the following learning outcome/s:
• be able to discuss the role leaders and advocates in the early childhood profession have on ensuring conditions in early childhood settings that support the wellness and wellbeing of children and staff.
• be able to create a plan with useable ideas and experiences to improve wellness and wellbeing for early childhood centre staff that could be implemented in an early childhood setting.
This assessment task also provides students with opportunities to:
• Reflect on the social value placed on wellness and wellbeing and how this influences educators’ perspectives on teaching practice in early childhood settings.
• Consider theoretical and practical means for fostering the wellness and wellbeing of staff in early childhood settings.
• Evaluate how well early childhood services provide for the wellness and wellbeing of children, staff and families.
• Explain the value of providing for the wellness and wellbeing of those involved in early childhood settings.
• Recognise and understand the role of leaders and advocates in the early childhood profession in ensuring conditions in early childhood settings support the wellness and wellbeing of staff.
• Practice some typical early childhood leadership skills, namely addressing an audience which in this case will be your colleagues.
• Develop concrete ideas to create change for the better in your early childhood setting.

PRESENTATION
This assignment must be created on a PowerPoint or a similar presentation program (discuss suitable alternatives with your tutor) and submitted through EASTS. The required ‘notes’ should be written in the notes section of each of the PowerPoint slides. You will record your voice-over of the presentation onto the PowerPoint slides.
The presentation is to be submitted as a separate file to EASTS.

• Text in PowerPoint slides should not be less than 18 point font.
• Proofread your work so that it is free of typographical errors, spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes.
