For your paper, you will conduct a small memory experiment where you will collect data on three participants. Your paper will describe the outcome of the experiment, you will create a graph of your results, and you will consider what conclusions you can draw from your experiment. The procedures for the experiment are outlined in pages 2-4. Please read the procedures thoroughly before conducting the experiment. Once you have finished the experiment, you can begin writing your paper. Your paper should be a minimum of 350 words, must contain citations (citations are not included in word count), and a bar graph of your results. Papers should be written in a Word document. (You have access to Word through your Del Mar Office 365 suite. Go to delmar.edu, from the top banner, select Email. On the left-hand side, select the little blue icon with a W to open Word.)Your paper should contain the following information:1. Hypothesis: Make some predictions about what you think you will happen when you do the experiment. What do you expect your participants to be able to do?2. Describe the steps you took to gather your data and report your findings in paragraph form. For example, "Participant # 1, my mother, reported 5 out of 7 correct in trial 1 and 7 out of 7 correct in trial 2…" etc. Be sure to use complete sentences and explain the steps you took. Note any interesting findings. Did your participants make any comments? Did you make any interesting observations?3. Explain the differences between recall and recognition: First, look up the definitions of these terms in your textbook for this class and provide them in the paper. Be sure to use quotation marks and cite your textbook at the end of the paper. Next explain each term in your own words. Make your explanations distinct from the textbook definitions.4. Compare the data between the recall and recognition attempts: Keep in mind that your sample is very small. Did your subjects remember more names using recall or recognition?5. Conclusions: What conclusions can we draw from this experiment? How does this experiment apply to your life as a student? Be descriptive. 6. On a separate page, create a bar graph of your results. There should be two bars on the graph, each one representing a trial average. The x-axis and y-axis should be labelled properly with trial averages and number of correct answers. Title the graph and each axis clearly. If you use color, be sure to include a key. (Three dimensional graphs are not appropriate; keep it simple.) You may use Word’s graph function or you can hand draw a graph, take a picture of it, and insert a clear, full page image of the graph into the last page of the document. (If you don’t know how to insert a chart or photo in Word, visit the help pages at https://support.microsoft.com)**While most psychologists prefer APA-style formatting, for this paper you may use MLA, Chicago-style, or APA-style for your citations.
