analytical essay

To write your Analysis Paper #2, follow these three steps:

1. We’ve been learning about politics and power within the U.S.  Now, let’s think about how politics and power work internationally.  Read the following two links:  this one is a  the second one is an op-ed from the director of the .  Then look at this data,  section.  Look at the Region data and the Income Data (the toggle icon for that section).

2. As you analyze the information, keep in mind the two questions below.  In your paper, use and apply the book information from the whole semester, all micro-lectures through this week, and the Eric Liu video, etc. in answers. Your grade will be based on applying course concepts to your answers–see grading rubric.

• Which foreign policy concepts are illustrated by the U.S. providing vaccines globally?  Why?
•  In the U.S., there is a domestic political debate about those who choose to be vaccinated and those who choose to not be vaccinated.  In a global context, there is a shortage of vaccines, which puts into focus the power and privilege behind having a choice about vaccination.  How does power matter globally? Think about COVID-19 vaccine distribution, which countries have access to the vaccines, and then who gets vaccinated in these countries seen in the data (region and income charts)

3. Then write a two-page paper finding course concepts that come up from your analysis in Steps 1 & 2.  The paper should be double-spaced, 12-point Time font, with 1″ margins.  No cover page is necessary.  Cite sources in the paper and provide a work cited list at the end (not part of the two pages!).  You can use whatever citation style you know the best!

You can use  construction to help with your writing and analysis.

The grade is based on your ability to identify and define course concepts and to explain how the examples in the article represent the course concepts.  TIP:  don’t just provide a summary of the data!
