Professional Writing: Peer Review Forum: Formal Persuasive Letter
Choose one of the AIDA-based persuasive letter writing scenarios on page 188 and write a formal persuasive letter using the example in Chapter 9 as a guide.
FORMAT: Add as much detail as needed, but do not add too much; a single page is enough for this assignment. Use regular margins (1 inch on all sides), 11 pt. Calibri font, single-spacing, titles, and headers where needed.
RESEARCH: You will need to find three sources for this paper. Use Mount Mercy Library, its online databases, or Google Scholar. The sources should be reputable from peer-reviewed journals or books (or ebooks). If a source is published by a college or university, generally it is considered a scholarly, reputable, and peer-reviewed source. However, if you do find a credible source through a general web search, please make sure it is published by a non-profit, non-commercial site. Avoid Wikipedia and other anonymously authored sources.
HOW TO USE SOURCES: Some ways you can effectively use sources include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Use compelling facts or statistics as an attention grabber in your opening (attention).
- Use reliable facts, statistics, and/or ideas to support your body paragraphs (interest/desire).
- Make sure to cite your sources in an APA-style reference page at the end of your paper. In-text citations are not appropriate for the persuasive letter.
