Assignment Expectations:

Assignment:

1. In this essay, explain why the chain of command, or scalar principle, is so important within a police agency, comparing other systems and examining how they would (or would not) work in policing.

2. Describe the four types of policy and write out the components of a good combination policy.

3. Outline the planning function in this essay and explain why most chiefs are not good at it while telling which staff members are good at it.

4. Give your best effort at describing the process or method(s) by which a department can overcome discrimination in the recruitment process. Include any federal guidelines that departments must follow in this process.
