In a 4 page double spaced paper using 4-5 sources from thr Rome reading please answer the following question To what degree is there a dark side to the Renaissance?

This week we look at the Renaissance. The idea that I am stressing is that the Renaissance is much darker, dirtier and full of conflict than you might think. In high school, it was probably taught as the rebirth and rediscovery of European civilization. But as the readings highlight-its more complicated than this.

The readings highlight many aspects of this brutal world-full of anti-semitism, casual violence, poverty and sexual exploitation. I would either focus the paper around 1 of these themes OR highlight sources that deal with each of these themes. For example I would argue that the era was full of anti-semitism, casual violence, poverty and sexual exploitation. Then I would describe each of these themes using evidence from 1-2 sources per paragraph that connect to these ideas.

OR highlight the religious violence for example-this including anti-semitism, killing in the name of religion, and new religious ideas brought about by Luther.
