I would like the paper to create a plan for less gun control and more focus on educating individuals about safe gun use and a larger focus on
mental health.
I already have the sources I would like used in this essay. I included pdfs for 5 of the sources and will include links for the other 3. If you would like to include other sources that is fine but there must be a 60/40 ratio between scholarly/popular sources.

here is the prompt
Put yourself in this situation: There is conference of very important people coming together to discuss and enact change. They are meeting in Provo and haveasked for college students to present ideas to them that could change the city, country, or even the world. If they hear an argument that is compelling enough, they will move forward with making the changes proposed. You have a lot of awesome ideas and would like to submit a presentation that will contribute to thisgoal of bettering society.Part of your presentation should include at least one major experience youve had in the community or with your family in an area related to your topic. Thiscould be work, service, club membership, school assignments, etc. It would extra awesome if you performed a new service related to your topic. For example, ifyou wanted to create a presentation on the effectiveness of emotional support animals for anxious individuals and how they should be allowed in more places, you might volunteer with an animal therapy service or offer to help care for a neighbors ESA (emotional support animal). If you spent your summers in highschool working on an organic farm, you might talk about the plausibility of making all farms organic. Whatever experience you choose to discuss, be sure thatyou can link your experience to your topic in a substantial way. This provides credibility to your audience that you are passionate about your argument anddedicated enough to do something about it.
Audience: Since this is a hypothetical situation, you get to create your audience. A conference of important people will be full of different peopledepending on the topic. You must determine who the important people would be for your topic and then address them. This could be a group of peopleranging from members of the United Nations to the leaders of the local rotary club. Assume these people want to and have the ability to enact a change if only they could be convinced to back the right cause. They will have questions that should be anticipated and addressed: they dont want tochoose a project that would end up being a waste of resources. Assume your audience will be interested in, but does not necessarily share, your valuesor experience. In fact, assume some degree of skepticism in the audience as you write your argument. Topic: Ask yourself: What about the world right now makes me really angry? What is something that really needs to be different? Your topic does notneed to be uber serious or large scale. If you want to tackle something like climate change, I will cheer you on. But neither should you shy away fromdiscussing free swim lessons for toddlers or creating a more equal world for lefties. Whatever topic you choose, make sure you are passionate about it. Format: Though you are turning in a written paper, you should write this paper as if it were the transcript of your presentation (more on this in the tipsbullet below). The conference attendees do not want to limit those presenting, so they have chosen to have no time or length requirements. You maychoose to write a four page paper or a fourteen page paper. You must determine which length will cover your argument effectively without losing youraudience. There are a few other requirements for presenters, however:o You must include at least 8 sources, 60% of which should be scholarly. You may include much more than 8 if you wish, as long as 60% of themare scholarly. There are some topics that benefit from a lot of popular opinion input, which are not scholarly sources. This could be difficult to includeand keep the 60/40 ratio. If you feel this may pertain to your topic, use your best judgment (or talk to your instructor) on whether yourargument would still be effective with less than 60% scholarly sources.o Your paper needs to be in MLA format: plain type (like Times New Roman), 12 pt font, double spaced, heading, header, works cited page Tips:o As your audience is somewhat skeptical of what you have to say, address counterarguments and alternative opinions seriously and respectfullyin your paper.o While you are writing this paper as if it were the transcript of your presentation, you should still follow basic writing conventions, like chunkinginformation into paragraphs.o Decide which tone would best serve your topic and writing/speaking style but be careful in your language choices. You want to present yourinformation in a way that will resonate with your audience while also giving you credibility as a presenter. I would caution against being overlyformal or overly casual.o When including your personal experience(s) with this issue, choose a way that will best suit the tone of your paper and your audiencesexpectations. You might discuss what you learned, if/how it changed your mindset, how it informed your topic, what you are planning on doing tocontinue the experience, something that surprised you, etc.
