This week, you learned about the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership. For Assignment 2, role-play as an HR Director, and create a PowerPoint proposal to the CEO recommending Emotional Intelligence training to help organizational leadership develop and strengthen their EI and improve organizational climate and morale. Your proposal for EI training for employees should address the following areas:

Realizing healthy conflict and collaboration through EI
Demonstrating a collaborative attitude by applying EI
Add your voice narration to the presentation and remember, in your role play you are trying to convince the CEO that the workshop is needed to improve employee teamwork and morale. So, be convincing and sell the idea! Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide.
Support your presentation with at least three scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.

Your presentation should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Each domain is an important skillset for resonant leadership. Leadership requires vision and organization in order to accomplish set objectives. A leader must be reflective, giving serious thought to the tasks completed as well as those yet attained. Leaders demonstrate excellence when they demonstrate strong core values, take initiative, and implement selfless service. A good leader is also a good listener, is empathetic, and considers others’ needs. Developing good emotional intelligence (EI) is good not only for individuals, but for an organization. In their white paper on emotional intelligence in the workplace, Langley and Francis (2012) cite numerous studies to substantiate that those with high EI, and whose work includes interaction with others, are more effective as an individual, which in turn increases organizational effectiveness. The positive impact of high EI is reflected in higher levels of employee performance, engagement, teamwork, and sales.
Upon review of the resources this week, you will analyze a case study (video can be found in course resources) and develop a proposal for an Emotional Intelligence Workshop for the organization in the case.
Be sure to review this week’s resources carefully. You are expected to apply the information from these resources when you prepare your assignments. As a reminder, you will submit your weekly reflection journal in Week 7.
