The Syrian Civil War and the resulting Syrian RefugeeCrisis has had a major effect on the population of this country.  A refugee is a displaced person who was forced to leave their home country and cross international boundaries. They cannot return for fear of losing their life (think about the Cuban refugees of the 20th century who came to the U.S. to flee Castro’s regime). There are pulland push factors at play for these people and all who migrate. In the case of Syria, the push factor is civil war and the pull factor (regardless of where the refugee ends up) is safety. 

Access the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) page for the Middle East and North Africa ( ), scroll down and on the right side of your screen you will be able to select a country. Select any of the countries in the region and, then, select an article that covers the refugee situation in that country (it does not have to focus on Syrian refugees per say). Read the article and summarize it in your discussion post. Also, attach a link to the article you are summarizing. Comment on a classmate’s post in a separate post.
