• Your paper should be right at 400 words.  25 words +/- will affect your grade.
• 2-3 secondary sources along with the poem(s) as primary source(s). First, try to find articles on GALILEO or through GIL. Next, use Google Scholar or the general Internet.
• MLA format: double spaced, heading, internal parenthetical documentation, Works Cited page, etc.
• NO second person or first person (unless in a quote from a secondary source). Stay in present tense when you write about literature.
• DO NOT USE Masterplots, NO Shmoop, litcharts, Cliffs Notes, Sparknotes, etc. These are NOT sources; they are forms of cheating.
• Review the assignment sheet for the fiction paper as well for those guidelines.

Choose one (or more) of these poems as there is PLENTY of published research out there. Do NOT use a poem we covered in class.
