Provide a specific point that backs up your argument.
it is an argumentative essay, please read instructions
I will repeat here the requirements as per the prompt:
Task: Write an essay of approximately 800 words, 2-3 pages, 4-5 paragraphs, explaining what you think is best to do in the following case. Do not forget MLA formatting for your paper. You are welcome to cite from this prompt and the YouTube videos I provided on Canvas (see Legal vs Ethical video on Canvas). Unless you bring in additional outside sources, there is no need for a Works cited page. Feel free to refer to personal experience or any prior knowledge you have about this topic.
This essay is an argumentative essay that requires you to state a position and back that position in the body of your essay.
Now, I am assuming most of you know what an argumentative essay entails. Here is a reminder about the basic argumentative essay format:
Introduction paragraph which contains a thesis (your position (thesis) is stated at the end of the introduction paragraph). This first paragraph of your essay should set up a context for what you will be arguing. ALWAYS end this with your position statement: Should Ann hire Sam or Kelsey?
Body Paragraphs (2-4) in each of these body paragraphs, provide a specific point that backs up your argument. These body paragraphs should start with a topic sentence first and then provide evidence for the point you are making in that paragraph. Evidence can be varied: personal experience, Ted Talk (see on Canvas: Legal vs Ethical), your own ideas (but backed with logical reasons), and/or any materials you have been exposed to so far in your business classes.
As far as evidence (above), you should draw on a range of different sources. Although this is not a research essay, a good argument makes a point and defends that point with logical reasoning, some personal experience, reference to outside sources, etc. Merely stating a position and not backing that position up is not a valid argument. Or, merely repeating personal narratives is not as convincing as mixing in some other means of evidence. Do not rely on only one type of evidence. This is NOT a personal narrative, but instead a logical argument.
Conclusion: Recap of your thesis and body paragraphs; end with an interesting statement, but do not present any new ideas not covered in your body paragraphs. This will probably be the shortest paragraph in your essay.
