Leaders need to lead. Meaning lead by example and TQM leaders are no different. While fulfilling their roles responsibilities, TQM leaders need to be the role model of ethical behavior. TQM leaders must get work done through others and therefore must be fair and build trust throughout the organization. By mentoring and coaching others they will guide the organization in achieving goals that are in alignment with the strategic direction of the company. TQM leaders will achieve this ensuring that the needs of all interested parties are understood and communicated. The goals will be focused around the customer and quality outputs. Outputs can be products, or services. Foremost, TQM leaders will accomplish all this through a collaborative spirit and not through means of force. In my opinion, TQM leaders set the standard for all others to follow and aspire towards in managing and leading others.

Quality leadership requires that the leader’s vision is practical, based on a customer-centered approach and challenging enough to inspire others.
